Why and when did “Little Zabor“ come to us?

 Actually the story begins with the Belgian breeder Els Wouters, who came to us to have her female dog “Grease” bred to Shadow.
But it was bad timing because we went to Cateccio/Italy the next day, to the Gold-Cup 2000 of SAT. So Els went with us because she wanted Shadow to mate with Grease.

We spent some very nice days together and came to know her and her dog very well.

Most fascinating was both our dogs “love”.

So the actual “act” was no problem - everything went fine. Four weeks after, we got the positive message that Grease was pregnant. Then on July 27^th 2000 the puppies were born and we had a steady stream of information and pictures from the first days on.

When the puppies were 5 weeks old, we went to Belgium for a prolonged weekend to meet the breeder and to have a look at them. It was fascinating that Shadow and Grease still got along sooooo nicely.

The puppies were charming and of course we had a favourite, the “little” male with the light-pink band around his neck. He had a mighty head with 5 weeks already, strong bones and a dream-like movement. That was the beginning and we were thinking: “Shall we get “this” little son of Shadow and bring him home with us?”

Gottfried saw the puppies with 8 weeks again and we decided to wait another short time, though our heart told us differently.

There were several reasons:

First the character of both dogs because both Shadow and Grease have a wonderful character which is very important for us.

Two because he is a part of Shadow- and looks just like we had imagined him.

Gottfried came home with his heart aching for it hadn’t been decided completely yet.

Because the male should stay another few weeks with the breeder before his new owner would get him.

Then, with “Zabor“ being 11 weeks old, we had the opportunity to see him again. This was our “peril” – no, finally we had decided. We just had to have him.

There were talks with the breeder because we had to know if WE could still have him. And as a matter of fact, everything went fine and Zabor came with us.

We said: “Thank the Lord, it was the right decision.”

Even if we can`t know yet how he will develop, he has enriched our lives already and we enjoy every minute with him. Especially our Shadow has livened up, he has so much more “power“ and now we have what we always had wanted:
